Kristy Majors And The Thrill Kills

KRISTY MAJORS ALBUM COVER

“Blink and you’ll miss it” could be the title of KRISTY MAJORS AND THE THRILL KILLS new CD. Like anything punk-related it’s over before you know it, and hopefully it made some kind of impact on you during that brief time. Well I am here to tell you folks that KRISTY MAJORS AND THE THRILL KILLS are not your ordinary run-of-the-mill band. And their self-titled debut album only drives that point home. I got the record two weeks ago and man, I have to say it’s FUCKING AWESOME!!! If you’re ever having a bad day, may I suggest popping this on? You’ll feel a thousand times better, trust me. And then you’ll abuse your REPEAT button.

For 32 minutes the band finds that perfect balance of punk and straight-up rock. At times I was reminded of WARRIOR SOUL, one of my favorite unsung bands of the universe. At others I was too busy rawkin’ out and having a great fucking time to care who sounds like what. But either way this album is fucking great!! Kristy has put together one hell of a project that should have all of us dancing in the aisles, the high school hallways, and along the Sunset Strip.

Look, I’m not gonna act like I know anything about this band. But here’s what I DO know…they kick ass and take names!! I only wish they’d tour here so I can see them at least once. And songs like “Pissed It All Away” as well as “Beginners Luck” and “Deadbeat” have a very raw, from the streets quality. These songs would be equally at home at the late CBGB’S in New York City or any club in L.A. because there is an energy found here that is 100% contagious. Kristy has tapped into that “plug in and play and blow their faces off” vibe that many strive for and very few attain.

Another one I loved was “Over and Over Again (Same Thing)” due to the fact that I could close my eyes and envision some really cool club from 1989 with these guys as the house band, and everybody moving, not wanting it to end. But that’s me, I’m nostalgic like that. And a surefire standout was “Make Up” with a guitar line that I found myself humming for days. Look, I could go on and on, but the bottom line is this is a great album, and one I am happy to recommend to anyone. KRISTY MAJORS AND THE THRILL KILLS did a bang-up job on this record, so check it out for yourselves and let us know what you think, huh? It’s out now, go git it!!
