Wolfpakk – Rise Of The Animal

WOLFPAKK

Rise of the Animal is the third metal all-star album from WOLFPAKK out now via AFM Records. The band is anchored by “Alpha Wolves” Mark Sweeney (CRYSTAL BALL) and Michael Voss (MICHAEL SCHENKER, CASANOVA, MADMAX). The duo cherry picks big names in melodic and hard rock and adds them to the “pakk”, if you will. Rise Of The Animal is without a doubt WOLFPAKK’s strongest release to date.

The roster of contributing musicians this time around is extraordinary. It includes the likes of John Norum (EUROPE), Doug Aldrich (WHITESNAKE/DIO), Axel Rudi Pell, Bob Daisley (BLACK SABBATH/GARY MOORE), Chris Slade (AC/DC), Chris Ivo (JADED HEART) Barend Courbois (BLIND GUARDIAN) and Simon Phillips (TOTO).

Rise of the Animal begins with a heavy hitter called “Rider Of The Storm” featuring Andi Deris of HELLOWEEN. “Sock It To Me” featuring Marc Storace (KROKUS) is next. It has all the ingredients of a great hard rock song complete with a chorus you can chant along with. “Monkey On Your Back” has DANGER DANGER vocalist Ted Poley at the helm with guitarist Ryan Roxie (ALICE COOPER/SLASH’S SNAKEPIT) providing an amazing solo.

Joe Lynn Turner (RAINBOW/DEEP PURPLE) is up next with “Highlands”, a song that takes you on a majestic journey, bagpipes and all. “Black Wolf” lays back before packing a punch with Rick Altzi of MASTERPLAN on vocals. David Reece (BONFIRE/ACCEPT) takes the lead on “Somewhere Beyond” and it makes you feel as if you were in the frontlines of a battle.

The seventh track has Don Dokken laying down the vocals on “Running Out Of Time” while “Grizzly Man” is tailor-made for vocalist Charlie Huhn (FOGHAT/GARY MOORE). The song “High Roller” puts you right in the middle of a sticky situation in Las Vegas. “Rise Of The Animal” is a tale almost hitting the nine minute mark with Michael Kiske (HELLOWEEN/UNISONIC) at the helm. Kiske adds his spectacular vocals with stunning accompaniment on this one. The final track, “Universe” shows off the dreamy falsetto provided by Michaela Schober. Overall, Rise Of The Animal is tried and true metal. For all hard rock fans, this is a recommended addition to your collection.
