Last weekend The Maestro’s 42nd Birthday Extravaganza (which usually lasts a week) began in earnest with the one and only ADRENALINE MOB at what is rapidly becoming a favorite hangout of A&GS, Reverb in Reading, PA. The first of five shows in seven days, this was the perfect way to start the festivities, wouldn’t you agree?
After being greeted by the wonderful Brandi Kohl who was running the door, and then her equally cool husband Mark (who runs KOHLFest) and his partner-in-crime JP behind the bar, along with the super-friendly Isaac who runs security, it was time to commence with the rocking. With the trusted Mike Sievila Photography manning the lenses he managed to get some of these terrific images you see below. And even though the place wasn’t packed to capacity, we still managed to have a great time.
Busting out killer cuts like “Snortin’ Whiskey”, “Dearly Departed”, and “Let It Go”, guitarist Mike Orlando, vocalist Russell Allen, bassist Erik Leonhardt, and drummer Chad Szeliga (pounding the skins hard and heavy each night in honor of the late A.J. Pero) were ready to go from the onset. A particular highlight was the band’s cover of the CHARLIE DANIELS BAND classic “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and of course I’d be remiss if I left out their 100% USDA Prime Grade-A Smokin’ Hot version of “The Mob Rules” If there’s a better rendition other than the DIO-SABBATH version I defy you to find it, ya heard?
All in all, this was a great way to kick off my week of killer shows in a fun venue. Get out there and support ADRENALINE MOB if they hit your town. Do it for the metal, making memories, and most importantly, let’s do it for A.J.
