BRAND NEW/MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA/KEVIN DEVINE AND THE GODDAMN BAND LIVE AT THE BOMB FACTORY!! – Dallas, TX

The emo gods themselves recently descended upon Dallas. The Holy Trinity of every sad boy’s wet dream was on the bill. KEVIN DEVINE AND THE GODDAMN BAND, MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA, and BRAND NEW. The sold out show started off a bit rough, a power outage caused about a half hour delay in doors opening. The Bomb Factory handled it well, handing out water to the line that stretched down the street and around the building. Once the power situation was resolved and the crowd settled into their positions, KEVIN DEVINE kicked things off.

The energy he brought to the stage was impressive. Rabbit hops and yells were to be found all throughout his set. The songs were surprisingly catchy, and he certainly has a gift for songwriting and showmanship.

Once his set came to a close, MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA took the stage. Their energy could have powered everything when things went out. It’s been years since I’ve seen a band that talented and powerful. This is absolutely one of those bands that you need to drop everything to go see.

Finally, the evening rounded out with the gods themselves, BRAND NEW. Now, I’ve seen them previously and it was always as if I was just watching them practice. Not much energy, not much emotion, but technically good. This time? They gave it a lot more gusto. Granted, I’m sure having several thousand people screaming your lyrics back helps. But, the band didn’t disappoint this time around. Wanting to relive your angsty teenage haze? Go give them a spin.

Overall? The show was absolutely stunning in terms of adult emo rock. All of the bands were high energy start to finish. It was certainly an evening that I, and several thousand other fans will enjoy and remember for a long time
