Thousands of beer aficionados, their hangers-on and others just looking for a good time descended up the grounds at Fair Park in Dallas for the annual Untapped Fest, sponsored in part by Earth Day Texas.
With the weather cooperating beautifully and spurred on by the notion of beer combined with live music, attendance records were shattered. This year’s happening in Dallas drew the largest number of patrons in the event’s history. “Suds-love” swept the Fairgrounds like wildfire as the day progressed, fueled by the one hundred breweries that were on-hand, serving up samples of over four hundred unique brews. T-shirt, novelty merchants and local artisans selling their wares were also out in full force, as well as hearty helping of local food vendors.
Organizers set up four stages, showcasing several national acts, including THE MOWGLIS, LIGHTS, ELLE KING, DR. DOG, PHARCYDE and headliner THE FLAMING LIPS. With meticulously placed performance areas throughout the Park, one was always within earshot of top-notch music. And with righteous tunes and plenty to drink and eat, all set against the gorgeous backdrop of historic Fair Park, it was impossible to not enjoy one’s self.
“I had a kickass time and cannot wait until next year!”- was a sentiment echoed over and over again by every single patron that we talked to (and we talked to a lot of people!). Untapped began in Austin, TX and has expanded, holding annual events in San Antonio, Ft. Worth and Houston.
