“Electric ecstasy” is a line from “Ride the Sun” off of MOTHERSHIP’S newest album, High Strangeness (March 17, Ripple Music). But is also doubles as an excellent description for the album itself. With the grungy guitar solos, excellent drums, and smoky vocals this is the newest masterpiece for the Dallas based band.
It has heavy sounding influences from the 80’s, but does quite well of delivering them in a fresh, unique way. This is the record that you’ll show your kids when they ask you what good music is, while also being the album that you’ll blast when you’re driving down the highway or smoking with your friends.
It starts off with the wonderful introductory title track and then picks up and punches it from there. Nothing on this record is repetitive, it just keeps serving up more great tunes for your ears as it goes along. My favorite track is “Wise Man” due to the absolutely insane guitar solos that are found throughout, however the album has that in spades. If you’re looking for the next great album to pick up from Texas, High Strangeness is the one for you.
