Good evening, A&GS. It’s been a minute since I’ve checked in here and while I can’t wait to start running my mouth about Miss May I, first I gotta talk about one of my favorite deathcore acts from Texas, UPON A BURNING BODY setting the stage. They’ve dropped a hot album this past fall titled Straight From the Barrio, and if you’re not familiar with it, they’ll make you familiar with it. UABB opened up with “B.M.F.”, then lead into a slate of songs from the new disc, including “’Til The Break of Dawn”, “Pledge Your Allegiance”, and “Media Blackout”. They then finished off their set with some older hits including “Sin City” and “Texas Blood Money”. Definitely get there early and check these guys out, you won’t regret it.
Metalcore heavy hitters MISS MAY I brought their Shadows Inside Tour to Baltimore Soundstage in Maryland and produced the first official sellout on this trek, shortly after vocalist Levi Benton tweeted out “Baltimore, there are under 10 tickets left! Get here tonight and let’s rage!”. This tour, influenced by their recent album Shadows Inside is aimed to introduce fans old & new to the new album & sound. Spaced out over their 12-song set, were all three pre-release singles, opening with my personal favorite “Shadows Inside”, throwing in “Swallow Your Teeth” right before Jerod Boyd’s drum solo, and closing out with “Lost In The Grey”.
The rest of the set went mostly with fan favorites & singles, including “Deathless”, “Hey Mister”, and “Relentless Chaos”. Look for MISS MAY I to get back out on the road at the end of the summer with another headline run, followed by a yet to be announced banger of a tour where they’ll be supporting a couple of HUGE names. Hopefully with another headliner will come the live debuts of some non-single tracks from “Shadows Inside”, so be on the lookout for those dates to be announced soon.
