The incomparable Richie Ramone came to rock The Pickering Greek Inn right in my town of Phoenixville, a scant five minutes from my house. How could we not be there, right? With trusty photographer Tonia S. behind the lens, we caught all the sights and sounds of an intimate show at a really fun venue (P.S. their wings are to die for!). His bandmates Clare Misstake (bass), and Glenn Gilbert (guitar) brought the ruckus right along with him.
The 25-song set culled heavily from RAMONES material, with a few Richie songs, and the packed house definitely made their enthusiasm known from beginning to end. There were also a few surprise covers, like DEPECHE MODE’S “Enjoy the Silence”, which he covered on 2016’s Cellophane, and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” from CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL.
These went side by side with RAMONES classics “Somebody Put Something In My Drink”, “Blitzkrieg Bop”, “Howling At the Moon (Sha-La-La)”, and “Sheena Is a Punk Rocker”, just to name a few. Other songs included “Braggadocio”, “I Fix This”, and “Pretty Poison”, also from the Cellophane album. All told it was a fun night of punk rock songs from Richie Ramone, both classic and new!
