This Top 5 list was a toughie.
Originally, ’twas to be Top 5 thrash bands, but then I realized that wouldn’t be fair, since as a 40-year old, I’m way more into Overkill these days than any of the other bands on the list.
So, I put myself back into 15-year old me’s head (It was a lot easier than you think!), and thought about what albums REALLY got me going. So, here they are:
1. Metallica – Master of Puppets (1986)
2. Megadeth – Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying (1986)
3. Overkill – Taking Over (1987)
4. Testament – The New Order (1988)
5. Anthrax – Among the Living (1987)
I can’t wait to see what some of you maniacs come up with, and as always,
feel free to comment and/or rip my list apart! ~dc
1. Metallica – Master of Puppets
2. Exodus – Pleasures of the Flesh
3. Megadeth – Peace Sells
4. Overkill – Under the Influence
5. Metallica – Ride the lightning
Nice list, David! Man, I forgot all about Pleasures of the Flesh. Gonna have to fire that one up later for sure.
Great list!
Thank you, Paula!! Thrash metal courses through my veins. What are your favorites?
My top 5 80s thrash albums…& after 25 years experience with & many other musical Genre’s…I have come up with this list after re visiting Thrash the past 3years on a nostalgic trip thanks to the wonders of the internet.
1. The ulta violence-Death angel.
2. The legacy- Testament.
3.Rein in blood- Slayer.
4.Peace sells- Megadeth.
5.Terrible certainty- Kreator
Peace sells is low & Master of puppets isn’t on there because I don’t considder them “thrash” as such, more speed metal as it was, or just plain entities in their own right as Metallica have gone on to prove!!
