I’m certain that Casey Crescenzo isn’t human…
I had the absolute pleasure of seeing him front the band THE DEAR HUNTER at Gas Monkey Bar N’ Grill not too long ago. The openers for the show both put on amazing sets. gates graced the well-packed venue with their blend of indie rock and slower jams. It was a nice start to the lineup, and they did a great job of keeping the crowd’s attention.
Next up? CHON, who was absolutely mind blowing. They’re a wonderfully talented, instrumental band from San Diego, California. Jaws certainly hit the floor when they started playing. If you like bands along the same vein as ANIMALS AS LEADERS and POLYPHIA, give CHON a spin.
Finally, THE DEAR HUNTER took the stage…The jaws that weren’t already on the floor from the performance CHON gave? You bet they slammed into the ground when TDH started their set.
It’s abnormal to have a band sound better live than on their recordings. But this band? They already sound incredible on all four “Acts”, but live they blow almost every other group out of the water. Everything from stage presence, to lighting, to sound was executed with the utmost perfection. THE DEAR HUNTER is one of those bands that you need to see before you die. So start memorizing their songs and make sure to check them out on one of the remaining tour dates.
