Hardworking Death Metal band ABORTED, a little over a year after delivering an EP (Termination Redux) and a full-length album (Retrogore) in 2016 have decided to give us even MORE new stuff! And by that I mean Bathos, the two-track EP releasing July 7 via Century Media Records. As usual, the horror/gore/kill motif is prevalent, one of the things I love most about this band. And also as usual, the tracks rip you to pieces without losing a second’s sleep over it.
“Fallacious Crescendo” is as vicious as a room full of attack dogs who’ve been starved for three days, then let out to feast on the first living thing they see. And yet, the guitar solo is almost poetic amid all that ferociousness. Title track “Bathos” has a more atmospheric quality to it, without sacrificing the heaviness that makes this band special. It even crosses over into Deathcore territory, which in this case isn’t a bad thing.
Hey listen, when it comes to ABORTED, if you don’t know what to expect by now, then shame on you. They rip and tear you to pieces, then wash it down by drinking your blood on pretty much everything they put out. And this two-track teaser is no different. So let’s hope a new album materializes sooner rather than later. In the meantime, Bathos comes out in a week, so have at it and try not to kill each other while listening to it, capisce?
